The letter ha’ (ه) is always written and pronounced as “ه”, such as “face” and “كتابه”.
- The letter ta’ marbuta (ة) is always written as “ة” but is pronounced as “ت” when connected and as “ه” when paused. For example, the word madrasa (pronounced “مدرسُ الطالب” when connected and “مدرسةه” when paused).
- The basic rule: If you can connect the word to what follows it and pronounce it as “ت”, then it is a ta’ marbuta. If you pronounce it as “ه” in all cases, then it is a ha’.
