Basic punctuation marks in Arabic writing

Punctuation marks are an important part of the aesthetics and precision of Arabic writing. They help the reader understand the meaning and determine the tone of a sentence. The most prominent of these marks are: the full stop (.), which is used to end a complete sentence; the comma (,), which separates short sentences or consecutive meanings; and the semicolon (;), which comes between two sentences, the second of which is a cause or consequence of the first. The question mark (?) is used at the end of questions, and the exclamation mark (!) expresses surprise or excitement. We also find the colon (:) to clarify what follows, such as examples or explanations, and quotation marks (« ») to quote words or texts. Using these marks correctly makes the text clearer and more fluent.
